New Things!

New Things!

There are a lot of cool changes that are happening in my life right now. A lot of things that I'm very excited about and looking forward to. In June I'll be getting married and Tate and I will be moving into our house together. Next year I will be taking on a new position with FOCUS. I actually already started this position this semester. I realized that I hadn't updated you guys on this change. Matt Clark was the Director for the Denton campus. This means that he oversaw the three campuses (UNT, TWU, and NCTC), met with staff members, and led us in vision and direction. In February, Matt went on sabbatical for the rest of the semester after having lead in that position for the last 5 years. He went on sabbatical knowing that he would make the decision to continue on staff or transition into something new. In the meantime myself and Brittany Tydlachka took on his position for the rest of the semester. Matt has decided to transition off of staff so Brittany and I will be Interim Directors for this next school year. I am very excited about getting to take on this position. It's something that I have prayed and thought about and I'm excited to get a year to work in this position and see if it's something I would want to do long term. So be praying for our team as we adjust to the transition this summer!

Spring Showcase

This is our yearly event to raise funds to send our students to a discipleship training course in the Washington State. We raised over $17,000 from the Showcase this year! Thank you to all of you who came to this event or donated in some way! Myself and our students will be heading to Washington this next week! I can't wait!

Spring Formal

At the end of the year we have formal event for our students. We recognize and honor them for all the ways they have helped and loved our campuses. This year we decided to do our formal outside in a big pavilion. I was so much fun and the weather was perfect. I'm so thankful for our students and the ways they love our ministry so well.
This is our NCTC guys Core group at the Formal. It's not the best picture but you get the idea! They were such a fun group and I will miss them during the summer. Jon and Pedro did such such a great job in leading our Core!
This is Devan Rardin, He's one of the students I got to meet with each week. He treats our students so well, he's vulnerable, and patient with them.
Tate and I at the Formal!

I lead us in a time of honoring our student leaders and prayer for our transitioning seniors at the formal.

Student Testimony

"I first became involved with FOCUS when I was just starting out at Collin College. I had been living in Nigeria for a few years, so I was walking into a college experience where I didn’t know anyone. I worried a lot about not being able to find any meaningful friendships while I was there. So it came as a surprise when some old friends of mine, LorĂ© and Gibby Yessuff, invited me to a Thursday Night Fellowship. From that first night of fellowship, I made more friends than I could have prayed for. People asked me to sit with them, scheduled time to hang out with me, got to know me, and challenged me as a disciple. It became clear to me that this was not only an example of authentic Christian community; this was the way Jesus called us to do friendships—intentional, genuine and loving.

Through the many friendships I’ve been blessed with in FOCUS, God has changed my fear and worry of not having any friends into a desire to grow and develop friendships at TWU. I am beyond thankful when I see what he is doing in the lives of students here and for the example of Christian friendship that I’m now able to extend to others."

Prayer Requests

Myself and over one hundred potential student leaders will be traveling to Bellingham, Washington to attend the Student Institute of Campus Ministry (SICM). These students will receive intensive campus ministry and leadership training to be better equipped to serve on our campuses in the fall. Please pray that God would move powerfully to expand their vision, empower them to become missionaries to their campuses, and unite them deeply through this shared experience.
